Of course we’ll get the photograph where everyone is together.

But I also want the child who still reaches up when they want to be carried. The one who laughs hardest at Dad. The siblings who can’t stand beside each other for thirty seconds without touching, annoying or making each other laugh.

That’s usually the stuff that changes first.

My family sessions can be photographed outdoors around Mandurah or in my Dudley Park studio, with families travelling from across Perth and the Peel region.

FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY IN MANDURAH

ENQUIRE ABOUT A family SESSION

You’ll want to remember more than everyone smiling at the camera.

Your kids don’t need to sit still for me.

They can move. They can take a minute to warm up. They can decide one idea is ridiculous and absolutely refuse to participate in it.

I’m not waiting for perfect behaviour before I start taking photographs.

I’ll give them things to do when that helps, leave them alone when that works better and change direction when something clearly isn’t happening.

If your child needs more time, movement, space or fewer instructions, tell me beforehand. I’d rather work with the child you actually have than spend the session trying to turn them into someone easier to photograph.

ABOUT THE KIDS

I attended with my newborn & my 2 energetic little girls. I honestly wasn’t going to get photos this time around as it being my 3rd baby I definitely was not wanting to jump in front of the camera days after a c section. From the moment I stepped foot in Laura’s studio i felt so comfortable. She goes above & beyond so all smiles were genuine. She has also made quite the impression on my 2 daughters (6&10) as they always ask “when can we go back to that nice lady’s house with the white room” and honestly I can’t wait to get back in! She is amazzzing with kids!
Thank you Laura for creating such beautiful memories for me to cherish along with the laughs on the day & we can’t forget the snacks you provided haha. 10/10 recommend!

your family session

Yes, we’ll get the one where everyone is looking.
Then we can move on.

Family sessions are around an hour, which gives us time for the photographs grandparents will want as well as the ones that happen once everyone stops concentrating quite so hard on being photographed.

I’ll guide you enough that nobody is wondering where to stand, but I’m also watching what happens between instructions.

Who reaches for whom. Who climbs onto Mum. Who makes the toddler laugh. Who needs five minutes before they want anything to do with me.

Those photographs usually tell me much more about a family than twenty versions of everyone looking at the camera.

what to wear

You don’t need to coordinate the whole family on your own.

Once you’re booked, I’ll help you work out what everyone is wearing and how the pieces will sit together in photographs.

You’ll also have access to my client wardrobe if you’d like to borrow something rather than buying an outfit for one afternoon.

If you already have things at home, send me photos. We can work from there.

The goal isn’t for everybody to match.

I just want the clothing to make sense together so it isn’t the first thing you notice when you look at the photographs.

WHERE WE’LL PHOTOGRAPH

We’ll choose the setting around your family.

Outdoor family sessions are photographed around Mandurah and surrounding areas, usually towards the end of the day when the light is softer.

Studio sessions are also available in Dudley Park and can be a great option when you want something simpler or have younger children who will do better in a more contained space.

We’ll work out what suits your family when you book.

family COLLECTIONS

See them first. Choose afterwards.
You don’t need to decide how many photographs you want when you book. Once your finished gallery is ready, you can see everything and choose your collection.

10 photographs | $550
For a smaller selection of the photographs you love most.

20 photographs | $700
More space for everyone together, each child and all the smaller interactions throughout the session.

Full gallery | $850
For the family who knows choosing favourites will be the hard part.

Your complete finished gallery of 50+ photographs, so you can keep the full shape of the session rather than narrowing it down.

A $200 deposit secures your session.

See your photographs first. Then decide how many you want to keep.

AFTER THE GALLERY

Give the photographs somewhere to go.

Family photographs get more interesting as the people in them change.

The toddler becomes the teenager. The front teeth disappear and come back. Someone stops asking to be carried. Suddenly the photograph that felt ordinary when you took it explains exactly what your family used to look like.

Albums and wall art are available after your gallery is delivered, and I can help with image choices and sizing rather than sending you away to figure it out yourself.

They are made to be lived with, looked through and handled properly.

EXTENDED FAMILY SESSIONS

Extended family sessions are available for an additional $100.

We’ll photograph the whole group, then work through the combinations that matter to you, including individual family units, grandparents with grandchildren, siblings and other pairings you’d like.

Tell me who is coming when you enquire and I’ll plan the session around the group.

Bringing the grandparents too?

a little about me

You can just turn up. I’ll take care of the rest.

I’m Laura, a mum of three and family photographer based in Mandurah.

You don’t need to know your best angle, practise poses beforehand or arrive feeling completely comfortable in front of the camera.

I’ll give you enough direction that you always know what we’re doing, while still leaving room for the moments that happen naturally between you, your partner and your children.

I’ll notice the dress that needs adjusting, the hair that’s sitting strangely, when something isn’t working and when we’ve already got what we need.

You get to spend the session with your family instead of wondering what you’re supposed to be doing next.

Frequently asked questions

How long is a family session?

Around an hour. That gives us enough time without expecting young children to stay interested in photography all afternoon.

What if my kids don’t cooperate?

They don’t need to. I’ll change what we’re doing, give them space when they need it and work with whatever mood they arrive in.

Can we have a studio session?

Yes. Family sessions can be photographed in my Dudley Park studio or outdoors around Mandurah.

Can grandparents come?

Yes. Extended family sessions are available for an additional $100.

What should I wear?

I’ll help. You’ll receive styling guidance after booking and can also use pieces from my client wardrobe.

When do we choose our collection?

After you see the finished gallery. You can then choose 10 photographs, 20 photographs or the full gallery.
